Waite wins Captains Award. |

Kyle Matthews has presented Ben Waite With his captains Award for Season 2008. Waite was humble in his acceptance but urged the playing group to stick together for 2009. Matthews congratulated Waite for his “never say die attitude” and for his fantastic clubman attributes.
Waite played Five season games for 2008 and finished third in the reserves best and fairest. Waite’s best senior game for the year was against Bendigo where he polled a senior liston vote and had the better of fullback Mal Michael, in was in this game the leader journo Paul Amy, shouted the headline “Worth the Waite”. Waite said it was unfortunate that he had to go to China for the next two weeks for work commitments, as he had just started to belong. To Ben’s credit he forced his way back into the team with an outstanding defensive job in a best on ground performance against Kangaroos listed player Aaron Edwards in the reserves epic come from behind win. Well done Ben a deserved winner. |
