After 4 practice matches, the season is finally upon us. Casey found it difficult in their encounter with Williamstown on the weekend and will be looking for a vast improvement as they tackle Sandy at Sandy on Sunday.
A fanatic 15 minutes of quick, hard footy, was a fantastic contest at Casey fields on Saturday , however it was then a very disappointing 15 minutes to follow. Williamstown blew the Scorps away kicking 5 goals to 0 in 14 minutes of Football to be up by 6 goals at the 1st break. It was not much better for the Scorpions at themain break with Willy on fire kicking an accurate 14.3 to Casey’s 5.6. The 2nd half was more of an even battle with 8 Goals to 6 kick in Willy’s favor. Williamstown will no doubt be a yard stick for season 2008 as they were almost at full strength. As for the Scorps, who have no doubt improved dramatically, they will need to learn from their mistakes and turn the focus quickly to one of the hardest road trips in the VFL. Beating Sandy at Sandy. Players to impress for Casey where Goddard who will no doubt in line for a recall with the Saints this week. James Wall was solid down back, Whilst Ferguson, Creed, where serviceable.
