VAFA Star Forward Adds Sting. |
|
The Casey Scorpions Forward stocks have been bolster by the signing of gun De La Selle Forward Matthew Moore. Moore who was runner up in the VAFA goal kicking for season 2008 kicking 59 goals despite missing five games. Moore had a terrific year and this was evident when was selected in the VAFA representative U23 game against South Australia.
Football Manager Craig Lees was at the game, “It was a wet freezing cold day and the Scorpions had a bye that weekend, I debated for hours whether to make the trip up to Junction Oval to watch the game. In the end it was a justified decision”. Moore Kicked six goals that day and was a star, but the impressive part of his game was his work ethic. “He kicked three goals from defensive pressure, so it was at this point I knew I had to have this guy on our list” Lees said. Moore has lead the goal kicking for his A grade club, the last two seasons and it will be a big hole for them to fill. Moore who has all the athletic ability said it was time to have a crack. “It’s been a hard decision for me to make and I have so many mates at De La, but I think the timing is right to have a crack at the VFL, and I’m looking forward to playing with AFL players”, Moore said. Moore who played in the AFLQ Cairns in 2006 finished top five in the league after kicking 75 goals. Lees was chuffed with the signing.” I have been chasing him for a while, from August last year, so to have Matt on our list is a great asset to our forward line and club, he is the type of player that with his flair and defensive pressures, that if he had a consistent year could find himself on a rookie list in 2010. I’ll be doing a bit of work with Melbourne this year, so I’ll be pushing for Matt to be the best player he can be, and if he can do that, then hopefully an AFL door will open. Moore was stands at 194cm and 93kg will wear no9 in 2009. |
