ACE WAFL rover and former Sandringham star Mark Haynes is set to join the Casey Scorpions  as an assistant coach.

But  unfortunately for the Scorpions Haynes will not be playing in the VFL.

The Subiaco captain  has returned to Melbourne  for employment  reasons and has hooked up with his former Subi coach Peter German,  Casey's new senior coach.

Scorpions  football manager Craig Lees said Haynes had indicated he would probably  play a  few matches for the Chelsea in the MPNFL.   ``He thinks he's done at our level, but I'll be plugging away at him and trying to change his mind,'' Lees said.

A two-time premiership player at both  Sandringham Subiaco, Haynes will look after Casey's midfield.
