When asked about their reasons for joining the Scorps, all 6 players said that they wanted to play at a club that had a good atmosphere as well as sticking together with what will be a good bunch of mates. They all agreed that the club had been pro-active in their recruiting, and the place is exciting with a real buzz.
Here is a bit of background information on them:
Shaun Dixon - 190cm 84kg; Medium defender and a fierce competitor. Shaun has Good pace giving him the ability to play on a tall or small down back, mixed with Good endurance highlighted by a 14.1 Beep Test at NAB AFL State Screening Session. Shaurn played TAC Footy in Season 2006-07 and played 33 games. He played mainly in defence in both his years always playing on the number one forwards! Shaun finished in the top 5 in the Ranges Best and fairest. He will be studying human resources at Swinburne in Lilydale this season!
Andrew Campbell- 188cm 84kg; Andrew is a medium forward who can also play through the midfield and into defence. His athletic ability is highlighted with a 2.96sec 20m sprint coupled with a beep test result of 14.9 Beep Test (endurance test) at the NAB AFL Draft Screening Session. Aggressive player who is strong on the lead and a good kick, played some outstanding TAC games by kicking a few bags of goals and was rewarded in 2007 by being invited to the initial Vic Metro Squad.Andrew played 30 TAC games and is a very hard player to match up on due to his aerobic capacity and pace! Andrew trained with Melbourne after the National draft but in the end was overlooked for a rookie spot.Andrew will also be studying building and construction at RMIT this year.
Aaron White - 188cm 85kg;Aaron is a very mobile medium defender whose athleticism is an extremely important part of his game. Aaron is also known as a versatile payer and on many occasions playing in various positions to suit the Ranges coaching StaffAaron has had a few set backs with injuries along the way, but is getting on top of his fitness and the coaching team at Casey have no doubt he will make in roads at the Scorps. Aaron played 30 games of TAC football in season 2006-07.
He got offered a position studying Exercise Science in WA but deferred his spot to concentrate on his football and Work for a while he saves some money.
Daniel Noy- 188cm- 80kg;Extremely quick half back/wing whose running and long kicking are a feature of his game. A mobile player who can be used in numerous positions and roles on the football field. Daniel made his TAC debut as a 16 year old and had immediate impact in that season. Daniel had high expectations of being drafted in 2007 but due to injures early unluckily struggled to play his best footy. He trained with Melbourne in the hope of being picked up as a rookie after the national draft and he has come to Casey in the hopes of still ultimately playing at the highest level. Daniel played 33 games of TAC footy.
Beau Vernon – 181cm – 75kg;Inside midfielder with versatility to also go forward and back, the tough ball winner was a member of the 2006 TAC Grand Final for Gippsland Power as only an under 16! He then played with them through the 2006 and 2007 season as well and become a vital member of the side.He comes originally from Phillip Island and has spent the summer working as a sign writer and in a restaurant, saving some money while he waits for University to start. Beau will be studying at Deakin, Burwood in Commerce during 2008.
Tim Crespin - 187cm – 76kg;Tim is predominately a Half Back Flanker with versatility to give him the ability to match it with both tall and small opponents! Tim can also be swung forward when required. Tim spent the 2007 and 2007 seasons at the Dandenong Stingrays, and hails from local powerhouse club Noble Park in the EFL. Tim is working at Village cinemas, Fountain Gate and waits for University to start where he will be studying sports development at Deakin and Burwood.
