Will the Scorpions beat the Bullants the week?

'Casey Scorpion' Catches up with Hutchie!
 Recently, our very own Casey Scorpion had the opportunity to sit down with our new Coach, to learn a bit more about him, and so that our supporters can get to know 'Hutchie' a bit better;
The Scorpion: Hutchie, about 3 months ago you took over as Coach of the Scorpions, what was the reasoning behind going for the Scorps job?

Hutchie: The opportunity presented itself and I was keen to get back into Coaching, it’s fair to say things just really fell into place for me!

The Scorpion: The VFL is ever changing, you have had experience at all levels of the game; what do you see as your biggest challenges coaching in the modern VFL.

Hutchie: Managing player expectations is always difficult, and having 2 groups of players will present enough challenges in itself!

The Scorpion: A lot has happened since your appointment at Casey Fields, the whole coaching panel looking different to 2007, what type of football do you aim to get the boys playing?

Hutchie
: A style that is entertaining to watch, good, hard and aggressive footy! We have a very exciting young group of players who have demonstrated a high work rate at training so far! So we should see some great young talent on display!

Greg wants the boys to play good, hard, aggressive and entertaining football on '08!

The Scorpion
: You will also be assisting with the St. Kilda football club during the year, how do you see the importance of that connection between the Scorpions and the Saints?

Hutchie: The alignment between the 2 clubs is very important! Maintaing the balance between developing the St. Kilda listed players and ensuring the Casey listed players are well represented is crucial. We have had approximately 50 players on the track at Casey, and for them, they need to be given an opportunity to play, it is essential that in form players ‘get a game’

The Scorpion
: We have one of the youngest most exciting lists in the league, what are your expectations for this season?

Hutchie: Essentially we need the group to learn and develop in all aspects of their footy! As a team we need to be consistent in the way we go about the game!

The Scorpion: The boys have been training hard for nearly 3 months now, who are some of the players that have been flying on the track, and who are you looking forward to watching closely in the upcoming practice games?

Hutchie: I haven’t had a chance to see them in action yet, but I’m looking forward to seeing all of them!! – Hope a few of them can get a kick!!

Thanks for your time Hutchie, myself and fellow Scorpions look forward with excitement to what lies ahead in 2008. Good luck and I will be catching up again shortly.

Hutchie: Good work, thanks Casey Scorp!

Feature Article

Watching Adam Parker play footy is like watching a brickie on a job site. There's no fuss, no glamour, not ritz, just a bloke who knows what he has to do, and who's getting the job done.
