Simpson calls Casey Home. |
Highly rated tall forward Scott Simpson has committed to Casey for season 2010. Many experts believe Simpson was unlucky to be delisted as he had two unlucky years with injuries at Geelong. Simpson said he was shocked when delisted by the Cats last month, but remained determined to play at the highest level.
"It was pretty surreal. They said it was a line ball decision and it went the other way, but footy's a tough industry and you've got to be mentally tough to make it," Simpson said Gotch was delighted with the signing of Simpson and has fond memories (now) of what the talented forward can do when up and running. “It was round four last year and Scott had a terrific day, I was coaching Williamstown at the time and I had four defenders try and play on him, but he was unstoppable, he kicked 8 goals 5 behinds and took 10 or so marks” Gotch said. There’s no doubt Gotch will he hoping he can recapture that form for the Scorpions in 2010. Scott Simpson a 196cm, 95kg forward didn’t make his debut in the star studded Cats line up line, however the highly rated forwarded did manage to play two NAB cup games. Simpson was excited about joining a Casey team full of exciting talent. “Casey played some really good footy last year, so hopefully I can help build on that”. I sill want to play AFL, so hopefully I can use Casey as a springboard for that". Simpson together young Casey forward Matt Moore should provide the Scorpions with an exciting/talented forward line for 2010. |
