Will the Scorpions beat the Bullants the week?

HOME OF THE MIGHTY CASEY SCORPIONS!

Scorpions Continue to Build

The Scorpions made in 2 from 2 at home this year, with another strong display under lights, this time against Box Hill.

It was Box Hill who dominated play in the first quarter with an ever so slight breeze to their advantage, innacurate kicking at goal would prove extremely costly, and despite winning the football around the ground, It was the Scorpions who were able to go into quarter time with their noses in front. Chris Dunne came off the bench to slot a strong running goal, and Andrew McQualter was standing up in the midfield for the Scorpions.

Casey     2.1. 13
Box Hill   1.6. 12

The second quarter saw some free flowing football from both sides, Shane Birss was getting plenty of the footy, whether in the middle of the ground, or out on a wing, and once again stand in skipper, James Wall, was contolling the backline with ease allowing our midfield to slowly gain ascendency. The Scorpions had 11 shots at goal, to Box Hills 6, but some better kicking from the Hawks meant they were not blown away. At half time the Scorpions had extended their lead slightly and went into the main break 11 points up.

Casey     8.6. 54
Box Hill   6.7. 43

It was the third quarter that Casey really took control of the game. Andrew McQualter and Shane Birss were still dominant in the midfield, and Birss was able to sneak forward to pinch a couple of goals. David Armitage was strong over the footy, and laid some bone crunching tackles, his confidence and ball winning ability around the packs at clearances seems to get better every week. Stefan Garubba had his best game for the season with dash and poise around half forward and through the middle of the ground. At 3/4 time the Scorpions were well in control and went in 35 points up.

 Casey    13.10.88
 Box Hill    7.11.53

The last term had the Scorpions well in truly in control after nailing 2 of the first 3 goals. Once again it was Andrew McQualter all over the ground, backed up with Andrew Campbell's ability to be swung to either end of the ground and make immediate impact. Michael Rix's work rate was second to none, rucking for most of the evening allowing Ben McEvoy to be used up forward as well.  At one stage the Scorpions got out to more than 9 goals in front, however some late goals by Box Hill meant that the Scorboard didn't quite reflect the Scorpions second half dominance. The boys have to be able to run games right out until the end, but overall another strong effort by the side, and they showed they are capable of going a long way in season 2008.

Casey Scorpions:  2.1. 13    -   8.6. 54   -   13.10. 88   -   18.14.122

The reserves were beaten by 28 points in what again, was a dissapointing result. The game was level pecking up until the last quarter where the Hawks were able to run away with the Game. Ryan Creed was all over the ground and will no doubt push for another spot in the Seniors, along with big Ben Fraser who booted 4 majors and presented very well at both Centre Half Forward and in the Goal square, also making a case for senior selection.

Feature Article

Watching Adam Parker play footy is like watching a brickie on a job site. There's no fuss, no glamour, not ritz, just a bloke who knows what he has to do, and who's getting the job done.
