The Scorpions slow starts are proving costly, and the weekend’s game was another one that went down to the wire. The Casey team let Bendigo set the scene early, and allowed them o jump to a five goal lead by midway through the first quarter.
It was once again “ Catch Up footy”, as the Scorpions clawed their way back. By half time there was only two goals in the game, and mid way through the last the Scorpions hit the front, in a torrid last five minutes Bendigo took the chances offered, and ran out seven point winners. The Scorpions had a number of good players on the day, Kyle Matthews was at his best, and his pace and spirit are an important part for the Scorpions midfield. Barry Brooks was working well in the ruck, and taking some strong contested marks around the ground. Stephan Garrubba was enjoying his role up forward and young players Parker and Unsworth were showing they have some talent, and will be players to look for in the future. This week the Scorpions will be playing on Saturday versus against Frankston in the Seniors at Casey Fields, 2pm start. The Reserves will be Sunday at Williamstown at 2pm. | SENIORS - Sunday 2:00PM 19 August - Casey Fields |
